This was the thought that went through my mind when I woke up this morning… lol
We’re rolling with the punches, though, right? We’ve got this!
Yesterday I mentioned re-accessing my priorities. When I spoke to Dh he said, “you’re still going to ‘meditation’, right?”
See, twice a week I go to my beautiful soul sister’s studio. From the goodness of her heart, she conducts guided meditations which encourage us to breathe deeply. For me, this is especially beneficial given that I tend to be a shallow breather (unless I consciously focus on it, of course). This has actually led to some health problems for me.
Who would have known that it can cause high blood pressure and have the same effect on my blood that a smoker experiences, though I’ve never smoked a day in my life!?
So, I told Dh that I definitely plan to continue with those sessions. It’s part of my second priority… Self-Care.
My mama always reminded me, “you can’t take care of anyone else if you don’t take care of yourself first.”
Wise advice that took me some years to implement, but is definitely a priority for me these days because it’s SO true!
So, what does that look like for me?
Well, I did write a post with some suggestions last year, but self-care really cannot be overstated.
And, as we discussed not too long ago in my Everything’s Chilled post, I am remembering to “set the stage” each morning. And I am journaling, which is a great way to spill it all upon the page and process it.
Still, sometimes, we need to pay ourSelf more attention and focus.
Well, reflecting upon my Self Care: Pressing the ESC Button post, I’m really surprised that I didn’t mention one of the best ways to nurture ourselves. So, here it is…
Get out in nature. Bask in the sunlight. Consciously soak in the very high-frequency vibrations.
For me, that means a trip to the beach. Get my feet into the sun and play in the surf.
As part of my “self-care” priority, I’ve made the commitment to ME to make it to our local State Park at least once a week.
At this time, it is so necessary.
Does that mean that I’ve had to let some things go?
To be honest, yes. It does and may seem selfish to some – even my own rational mind. But, I also feel that it’s the best way to get through this latest growth spurt I’m experiencing.
I also discovered another suggestion while Dh and I sat watching the movie E-motion on Gaia last night. (Have you seen it? If not, I highly suggest watching it! I found it fascinating.)
Eat foods that are orange and yellow in color.
Now, admittedly, I’ve not yet tried it myself, but food expert Don Tolman swears by it.
I’m planning to give it a go and let you know how it goes!
What does your self-care regime look like? I would love for you to share in the comments below. Let’s get a conversation going on what I feel is a really important topic, one that we can all benefit from.
Until next time, my dear friend, may you walk in love and light.
